Climate change is one of the primary causes of progressive erosion problems on a global scale. The hydraulic and filtration properties of TERRAM® geosynthetics allows them to be used highly effectively in place of traditional filter layers. Typically, a single layer of geotextile fabric can replace a succession of stone filter layers.

Natural vegetation can provide a certain level of erosion protection, it is often inadequate on steep slopes or areas prone to wave run-up or intermittent high velocity flows. This can occur in coastal areas, rivers, lakes, reservoirs, drainage ditches, flood bunds and overspill ponds.

River and canal banks are subject to wave action creating reverse flow conditions, it is this dynamic erosive force that undermines bank stability and affects channel flow and navigability.

The hydraulic and filtration properties of Terram Geotextiles allows them to be highly effectively when used in place of traditional filter layers. Typically, a single layer of geotextile fabric can replace a succession of stone filter layers. A single bedding layer of stone is laid on the geotextile, to carry the rock armour that resists erosion caused by variable hydraulic forces.

Geocells

Terram Geocell can be used in many erosion control applications often eliminating complicated and expensive construction techniques. Its three dimensional structure provides a blanket of 'cells' on the slope surface which can contain a variety of infill materials depending on the application; either topsoil, aggregates, from sands and gravels to larger stones and cobbles, and concrete of various strengths and surface finishes. This greatly improves resistance to erosive forces such as rainwater run-off on steep or unstable slopes, or slopes exposed to severe hydraulic or mechanical stresses.

Terram provide solutions for reinforcing grass surfaces to help prevent erosion. By reinforces the rootzone, Terram products can limit erosion from wind and water by creating a strong root system for grassed surfaces.  

Advanced Turf system (ATS) is an invisible surface structure that incorporates plastic net elements blended in a rootzone which produces a very strong, yet free draining reinforced grassed surface.
