Reinforcement of turfed access areas (Suffolk)

Issue

As part of a major landscaping project, the access route/driveway and the adjacent banks were required to be reinforced to reduce the wear on the grass and the problems associated with rutting to the surface.

Solution
TurfProtecta turf reinforcement was specified to give the grassed surface reinforcement, so it could be used by occasional vehicles, and regular pedestrian use. TurfProtecta  was laid directly onto a consolidated bed of seeded top soil. A further 20mm (approx) of seeded topsoil was added to cover the mesh. The area was left for a few months to enable the grass to grow.

Benefit
The TurfProtecta  installed onto surface that had been sowed ensured the grass would grow from beneath the mesh upwards, and allow the roots to grow down towards the mesh from above. This gave the grass the perfect reinforced root mass, capable of withstanding the loads to be imposed onto it.
