Rhauan Young is TERRAM’s distribution manager for the Midlands and North. She supports distribution sales across our extensive network, covering a wide patch from Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire to Scotland.
When did you join TERRAM?
“I have worked for TERRAM for six months. It’s absolutely flown by. Before TERRAM, I completed a degree in Sports Science and Marketing and was recruited through a graduate scheme to work for a competitor as a sales representative/account manager. I worked there for four years. I never initially saw myself in the construction industry but I ended up really enjoying working in this area and meeting such interesting people.”
What does your job involve?
“I work with our distribution network in the North to assist and price ongoing construction jobs. I offer product support and site visits where necessary. I also look at stock deals and ways to build and grow relationships with our current customers as well as new ones.”
How do you maintain a great service for the customer?
“Sales is all about being honest, open and friendly. I manage customer expectations and make sure I go out of my way at every possibility to meet the customers’ needs.”
Do you work as part of a team?
“YES! UK distribution is made up of myself in the North, Laura Risbridger in the South and Adam Topliss who supports us internally. We work together to support our distribution network and each other.”
What’s the best thing about your job?
“That’s a difficult one. It’s probably meeting an array of different people with different personalities and building relationships. And of course working with ‘TEAM DISTRIBUTION!’”
What challenges do you face?
“We tend to see challenges as opportunities. Unfortunately, some competitors offer inferior imitation products, but once we explain the value of buying TERRAM, that becomes much less of a problem.”
What do you think TERRAM offers that’s better than anyone else?
“Nearly all of our products are manufactured by us in the UK. This allows us to give our customers the products and support they want when they want it. We have full control over our manufacturing process and can offer customer factory tours to let our network see exactly how and where their products are being made.”
What’s your proudest moment at TERRAM?
“Winning an order I had received the enquiry for on my first day at TERRAM, after following it for five months. It’s great to work for such a prestigious company and a well-known brand name in the industry.”
