Pedal Power Raises Pounds In The Fight Against Prostate Cancer
Customers and suppliers joined Keyline employees to clock up an impressive 300 miles pedalling between Keyline’s Inverness and Dumfries sites. The 27 cyclists raised more than £8,500 for Keyline’s charity partner Prostate Cancer UK during the challenge in June. TERRAM supported the event with a sponsorship donation.
Starting from Keyline’s Dumfries branch on May 31, the team cycled 90 miles to Broxburn, then 70 miles to Balloch the next day. On June 2 they arrived in Fort William after a 75-mile journey before adding a final 65 miles on the last leg when they crossed the finishing line at Keyline’s Inverness depot.
Having completed 300 miles and a total climb of 14,000ft, the equivalent of climbing Ben Nevis three times, the cyclists received a hero’s welcome from colleagues, friends and family.
The challenge was organised by Keyline’s regional operations manager Frazer MacBean, Glasgow branch manager Gary Miller and key account manager Darren Fullerton.
Mr Miller said: “A group of nine of us cycled for the whole four days, then we were joined by colleagues, suppliers and customers along the way. On the last stage we took on the ‘Glendoe Summit’, a climb that is 4.8 miles long and 1,246ft high – it was an absolute beast!
“There were a few trials and tribulations, but also a lot of laughs and we would like to say a huge thank to the cyclists who took part in the challenge and everyone who donated to help us raise a fantastic amount of money.”
